发布时间:2020-04-10    来源:PeopleDaily-HubeiChannel    点击量:15731

On April 6th, Wuhan citizen Mr. Jin drove more than 40 kilometers to Hanyang Hospital of the Wuhan University of Science and Technology in order to send a silk banner to otolaryngology department directors Changkai Guo and Qinlin Yang. On the thank-you banner, it says “concern about the people, serve for the people”.

On February 24th, Mr. Jin was sent to the emergency room in Hanyang Hospital by his family members. A fishbone stuck in his throat. He had a swollen throat and there was blood in his sputum. He was already rejected by several hospitals and didn’t eat anything for two days. Mr. Jin recalled that it was difficult to see a doctor during this epidemic. He didn’t expect to be restricted in drinking and eating because of a fishbone. He felt very painful at that time.

The otolaryngology department is a high-risk department during the COVID-19 outbreak. Dr. Yang didn’t hesitate for a second when facing the risk of being infected during operations. Dr. Yang did a thorough check for Mr. Jin under strict disinfection and protection. He found that the fishbone already stuck deep in throat tissue and did the operation immediately. He took out a 3-centermeter fishbone by using laryngoscope.

Hanyang Hospital had done thousands of small operations like this during this epidemic. According to a head nurse Fengjiao Yang in oncology department, the number of outpatients in PICC clinic rose sharply from 20 people per month to 180 people per month after the outbreak. She and a head nurse Dan Liao from general surgical department undertook outpatient service in PICC clinic besides their routine work. The original outpatient service in PICC schedule changed from once a week to three times a week. And they increased the medical power for outpatient service maintenance. On Feburay 24th, the hospital sent 3 PICC nursing staffs to participate in online intravenous disease consulting services for solving problems of patients.

During the outbreak, Hanyang Hospital in Wuhan has been sticking to the principle of "walking on two legs". They merged 8 clinical departments and sent more than 90 medical personnel to support treating COVID-19 patients in 7 clinical departments. At the same time, the hospital opened its emergency room and most inpatient departments as usual and accepted patients 24 hours to guarantee the treatment for patients of other disease and critical ill patients.
