Wuhan Hanyang Hospital is a private hospital. During the outbreak, more than 900 medical staff of the hospital fought against the epidemic at the front line. There are 27 non-public medical teams from all over the country who drove to hospital together with them fighting against the epidemic.

Medical staff said: “She should be fine with the aid of respirator. There is fluid in her respiratory tract. I have done several nucleic acid tests for her and all have been negative. All COVID-19 patients in this hospital were admitted to the respiration department. On February 25, we transferred all patients to the Huoshenshan Hospital and Leishenshan Hospital according to the requirements of the epidemic prevention headquarters of Hanyang District.”

Wei Chunhua and Wei En, the team leader of Wuhan respiratory critical care medical team, said that the task is more arduous now, because we are required to give medical advice to patients every day and diagnose whether he is the Novel Coronavirus-infected patient. If we make a mistake, all our previous efforts will be in vain.

On February 2, Wei Chunhua led his team to arrive at Hanyang Hospital by self-driving for one day and a night from Shandong Province. They fought side by side against epidemic with Ai Hongyan who’s the director of respiratory department of Hanyang Hospital. The first time they met was in this corridor.

Ai Hongyan, director of the respiratory department of Hanyang Hospital, said, “I was really moved to see them coming at that time. After a very simple self-introduction, they immediately began to discuss patient’s condition, divide impatient ward, and fight against the epidemic.”

Inpatient ward expansion and isolation ward modification were the most urgent tasks that needed to be completed at that time.

Xie Bin, the vice president of Hanyang Hospital, said that We received a large number of patients with fever symptoms and patients infected with COVID-19 , besides,we are the only tertiary hospital that  is open to other specialties, and even patients from Hankou and Wuchang also came to seek medical service. The demand is too great and urgent.

Wei Chunhua and Wei En said：“I asked the hospital for another modified impatient ward. They modified a multi-storey ward which can contain more patients, so the pressure is relieved."

Wang Guoju, Assistant to the Director and Head of Medical Department of Hanyang Hospital, said that we were very anxious at that time. We only had dozens of beds in the respiratory department, and later spent nearly three days changing the whole medical building into a pneumonia ward, and expanding it to 250 beds.

After the modification, the second thing we are most proud of is the successful practice of new diagnosis and treatment methods, greatly improving the success rate of treatment.

Wei Chunhua and Wei En said that we are probably the first to use the hydrogen oxygen atomization treatment method which academician Zhong Nanshan directed us. After seeing the result of treatment, academician Zhong thought it was very meaningful. So when we taught the experience of epidemic treatment to Europe on February 29, the video we used was the first case video we took in Hanyang Hospital.

During the outbreak, there were 518 COVID-19 patients, and more than 2420 non-COVID-19 patients received medical care in Hanyang Hospital. Besides, it provides general outpatient emergency services for nearly 80,000 patients.
