As the outbreak has been gradually brought under control,

Some hospitals in Wuhan take outpatient services back to normal.

Based on strict screening, prevention and control measures,

Non-COVID-19 patients get treated.

During the outbreak,

Hanyang Hospital resolutely performs its duties

as the COVID-19 designated hospital,

and also provides emergency treatment and outpatient services

to protect the health of other patients

As a private hospital, Hanyang Hospital has been the fifth batch of designated hospital of COVID-19 since February 2. Since then, a total of 16994 fever patients have been treated and 527 COVID-19 inpatients have been admitted. At the same time, the hospital has overcome numerous difficulties and has been providing emergency internal and surgical first-aid access for 24 hours during the pandemic. All specialized outpatient services are open to the public in the daytime.

“To ensure the treatment of COVID-19 patients, Hanyang Hospital has consolidated many departments and diverted medical staff from other departments to support COVID -19 ward. At the same time, the emergency internal and surgery departments admit patients for 24 hours to ensure the emergency and severe treatment access for non- COVID-19 patients. We have reserved two internal medical wards for the treatment of non- COVID-19 patients with other internal diseases, and all surgical departments have been ensuring the normal operation.”

On February 25, after the referral of few COVID-19 undischarged patients, Hanyang Hospital took outpatient services back to normal on February 27. In order to implement the prevention and control measures of COVID-19 and avoid cross-infection, the hospital requires the patients to take personal protection, wear masks correctly throughout the whole process, and maintain 1-meter distancing. Each consulting room implements “one doctor, one patient and one room” policy, and sets three checkpoints before the treatment.

Yin Xiaoxin, Vice Director of Hanyang Hospital said, “First of all, we carried out 24-hour temperature tests for people in and out. Next, we set checkpoints near elevators and stairs to check the passes of people. People with respiratory symptoms should be strictly screened for routine blood tests, chest CT scans, nucleic acid tests and antibody tests.”

In order to build a firewall for pandemic prevention and control, the hospital not only carries out strict screening for outpatients, but also sets up a buffer zone for inpatients.

Yin Xiaoxin: “When a patient enters the ward, he or she should stay in the buffer zone singly. After two to three days of COVID-19 tests and screening, the patient can go to the specialist clinic for hospitalization treatment. In about one month from February 27 to now, we have admitted a large number of outpatient visits and hospitalizations. We strictly follow the regulations to see the patients and the overall operation of the hospital is in good condition.”

In order to avoid the cross-infection in hospital, Hanyang Hospital makes great efforts to disinfect and sterilize, and carries out strict physical examination and training for the returning medical staff, so as to provide safe and clean medical conditions for the patients.

“The hospital basically meets the international standards for clean hospitals, which are the five cleanings required by WHO: clean hands, clean objects, clean environment, clean equipment, and clean procedures. Our strictness and efforts have won the trust of patients. The daily outpatient amount in our hospital has increased rapidly, with the highest daily outpatient amount reaching 1400, which is only second to that of Hubei Cancer Hospital. As a private hospital, we can win the trust of people by to our solid work and continuous optimized services.

Isolate the virus, not the love. Facing the outbreak, Hanyang Hospital spares no effort to prevent and control the epidemic, and builds a strong defense line to protect the health of the public.
